About Me
Aaron Alicea, LPC
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I've been in the mental health field for over a decade helping people of all ages overcome mental health and substance use issues. I was called to this work because of my past experiences with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse; and, though I had to work hard in order to get where I am, I feel so grateful for my struggles and where they’ve led me.
The primary focus of my work is helping clients overcome anxiety, self-esteem issues, depression, and trauma. I can help you learn to do this through a focus on mindfulness, development of self-compassion, and understanding the mind-body connection. When you learn to be in the present with curiosity, and treat yourself with the same kindness you would treat a good friend, it can bring a deep sense of relief, freedom, and empowerment. Additionally, understanding how our nervous systems operate can help you learn to calm yourself during times of stress.
Outside of my work, I’m a dad, a multi-instrumentalist with a deep love of all things music, I’m a movie buff, practice yoga and meditation, and am a dedicated practitioner of the martial art Brazilian jiu jitsu. I have a great passion for jiu jitsu and find it has many therapeutic benefits.
